Joshua Baumgarten / Irrational Library in Concerto
zondag 5 november 2017 | 16:00 - 17:00
The most important musical release from an American in not being created in America at all.
On October 19th The Irrational Library will release “Now That We Still Can” a full lenght album in book/cd and download form. Over an hour of what The Irrational Library frontman, Joshua Baumgarten calls “spokensoulrocknrollfunkedupfreedomboogieforyourbrainspartyprotestmusic, Alright!” Described as the sounds of a group of assorted misfits influenced by spending too much time in the car listening to Gil Scott Heron, MC5 and Morphine. These are 13 songs that elevate the socially critical yet still humorous spoken word texts of Baumgarten that are the foundation. A foundation to a brick house that is built upon by the thunder groovy bass playing of multi-instrumentalist/producer Mishal Zeera, the rock steady backbeat of virtuoso drummer Lars van der Weiden and sweeping baritone sax and guitar sounds of Tom de Haan. Together this mighty foursome injects a shot of adrenalin and excitement into a familiar warm sound, igniting it on fire. The Irrational Library band, an ensemble unafraid to say that they actually do, have something to say. A message share with their friends and fans and the rest of the world. To liberate yourself from your mental slavery, to bring inspiration and insight to the good fight against shit music and uninspired poetry. The Irrational Library, not recreating the rock n roll wheel but spinning it at their own tempo.
